Brianna Ghey’s mother Esther joined a group of emotional mourners at a vigil today to mark one year since the transgender teen’s murder.
A memorial is being held at the Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington, with many locals joining to remember 16-year-old Brianna.
Brianna’s mum Esther was spotted among the crowd, holding papers and walking along to see some of the memorials placed near fences.
Teen Brianna was lured to Culcheth Linear Park near Warrington on February 11, 2023, and stabbed more than 28 times by people she thought were friends.
Her killers were named as they were jailed for life last week.
The family of the girl who murdered Brianna spoke out last week, saying the year since the barbaric killing was ‘beyond our worst nightmares’.
She was given a life term and ordered to serve a minimum term of 22 years. Her accomplice Eddie Ratcliffe, also 16, was locked up for at least 20 years after the judge said he had expressed transphobia towards their young victim.
