A rookie police officer suspended over an alleged relationship with a married police chief has now been charged in connection with suspected links to a drugs kingpin.
PC Caitlin Howarth, 24, was taken off duty after superiors at West Yorkshire Police uncovered what appeared to have been an affair with her commanding officer Chief Superintendent Daniel Greenwood.
She was aged 21 during the alleged fling while married Chief Supt Greenwood, also suspended, was 38.
It only came to light amid a probe by anti-corruption officers into suspected links between Howarth and a drug lord.
She has now been charged with misconduct in a public office in relation to ‘a relationship with a notifiable association with criminal connections’.
The student officer is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court on March 7.
Howarth, who lives with her mother in Bingley, West Yorkshire has more than 10,000 followers online.
Chief Supt Greenwood – a Bradford District Commander – has been in the force for nearly 20 years.
He was also suspended on full pay following the alleged affair, with a Chief Superintendent earning roughly £87,000 a year.
